Qujiangchi Park is built at the site of a Tang Dynasty imperial garden. The original water distribution has been restored. But the park also incorporates modern landscaping techniques. The buildings, remain true to the distinctive character of Tang Dynasty architecture.
The second park was built over the remains of the Tang Dynasty city walls. The sprawling enclosure is like a huge art gallery, decorated with works of calligraphy, sculpture, and painting.
The third, is Grand Ci'en Temple Park. It once was a gathering place for intellectuals and members of the Buddhist faith, during the Tang era, more than a thousand years ago. The site is dotted with a large number of Buddha statues.
All three parks were built over the last year. They are intended as leisure cites for the people of the city and for tourists. Xi'an was the capital city of multiple imperial dynasties. It's now the capital city of Shaanxi Province. The city government has moved progressively in recent years to establish parks at several historical sites.
