Sao Paulo wins in Adriano´s farewell game
BRASILIA, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Before the match between Sao Paulo and Sport on Saturday, Adriano was praised for his six-month performance for the team.
The player wiped off tears to help Sao Paulo beat the Brazilian Cup champions, Sport, 1-0.
The game got underway in Morumbi stadium while Adriano was still saying goodbye and thanks to the crowd.
The game was calm. Neither team jumped out on top or out-played the other. It took 90 minutes for the only goal to appear.
Receiving a rebound after a corner kick, Hugo fired home the winner.
Saturday's victory was Sao Paulo's third consecutive win in the Brasileiro Championship. The team now has 12 points and is among the top four teams in this year's tournament.
