| Chinanews, Beijing, Jun. 29 – Sun Laiyan, vice director of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and director of China National Space Administration, said that China would launch three weather satellites during the 11th Five-Year Plan Period (2006-2010). He revealed that all these satellites would help to upgrade the level of China’s weather forecast.
The Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense held a ceremony marking the formal operation of “Fengyun Ⅱ-D” weather satellite. The satellite has already sent to China Meteorological Administration, said Sun at the ceremony. Sun also said that the commission would conduct further research on geostationary satellite, hoping to introduce new technology to weather forecast in this country.
