Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos has arrived in Colombia with a reconciliatory message to improve diplomatic relations between Colombia and neighbors Ecuador and Venezuela.

Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos has arrived in Colombia with a reconciliatory message to improve diplomatic relations between Colombia and neighbors Ecuador and Venezuela.

Moratinos visited Caracas before arriving in Bogota. During a news conference, he said Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, sent a "fraternal embrace" to his Colombian counterpart Alvaro Uribe.

Diplomatic relations between Colombia and Venezuela were temporarily suspended following a cross border raid by the Colombian military to a FARC camp in Ecuador three months ago.

The relationship between Colombia and Ecuador deteriorated after the raid. Moratinos has offered Spain's assistance to resolve the diplomatic crisis.
