1st mainland tour group to Taiwan
The first group of mainland tourists to Taiwan will leave as early as July 4th. And a lot of people have been flocking to travel agencies across the country, eager to be part of that first group of tourists. But Sun Jiayu tells us that most people probably won't get their wish, with hundreds of requests coming in for just a few dozen spots to the island.
The National Tourism Administration has yet to announce the details of its policies on tours to Taiwan. But Beijing travel agencies have already begun to pre-book tours to the island.
One travel agency says it has already received about 700 pre-bookings from Beijing residents. And China Comfort travel agency says it receives two to three hundred calls about Taiwan every day.
But because of an expected quota for mainland tourists to Taiwan, only a few dozen lucky people will be part of the first group to leave on July 4th.
Zhang Qingzhu, Manager of China Comfort Travel Agency, said, "It's expected that the quota for the first tour group to Taiwan will be very limited. I think it will be more difficult for Beijing residents to join the first tour group. My suggestion is for people to apply for tour groups leaving July 18th."
Most of the tours run eight to ten days and are priced at eight to ten thousand yuan. Sightseeing spots include Ali Mountain and Sun Moon Lake.
