| Chinanews, Lhasa, Jun. 14 – Archaeologists have discovered many cultural relics in Tibet in recent years. Currently more than 2,330 historical sites have been registered in Tibet.
According to statistics, there are totally 329 cultural protection sites in Tibet, 35 of them being national protected sites. The central government and the regional government of Tibet have always focused their efforts on cultural relic protection in Tibet. The central government has allocated 330 million yuan to renovating the Potala Palace, Norbulingka and other historical sites. Currently the renovation work in the Patala Palace has come near to completion, and Norbulingka, the world’s highest palace, has also been under renovation for years. The local government has also invested some 140 million yuan to renovate its surrounding areas. In addition, the Sakya Temple, one of the most important temples in Tibet, has also been renovated.
